Bubble Lamps – George Nelson (1908 / 1986)

ROME –Bubble Lamps are astonishing icons of modernism: a series of sospended or table lamps, in steel and vynil, projected in 1947 by George Nelson, a greater master of interior decoration, one of the first to mix together design and industrial production. Each model is composed by a tin skelethon of steel sticks that is quickly twirled on itself and sprayed by a vynil solution to create the tranlucid and evanescent cocoon that is the body of the lamp.
The “original” Bubble were in production until 1970, then began aimed pieces for collectors worldwide. Today that are copyright free, they are re-edited by many design firms on the basis of original projects and will be forever great cue for next productions.
